R. B. (Dick) Lewis and ReBeL Documents
As the examiner/owner of ReBeL Documents, I began my private practice as a Forensic Document Examiner in 1998
while winding down and preparing to retire from a career in Law Enforcement that spanned 33 years.
The last 25 years of that period was dedicated to complex and white collar crime investigation and included my
being the first Forensic Document Examiner in the employ of the Colorado Attorney General's Office.
I retired from that office in 2004.
I first studied Forensic Document Examination in college in 1980. I subsequently attended the U. S.
Secret Service Questioned Documents Course and completed an extensive internship. My expert opinions
have been accepted in excess of twenty times in many county and district courts throughout Colorado and Utah, as
well as the U. S. District Court in Colorado.
I have taught numerous seminars to law enforcement groups, private industry, have been a guest speaker at several
colleges and have trained and mentored document examiners for law enforcement agencies as well.
ReBeL Documents' lab has a wide range of scientific equipment on hand, including weights and measures for comparing
paper and typewritten text, stereo microscopes, ultraviolet and infra-red, as well as a variety of 35MM and digital
photography and developing equipment.
